Job Title: Interventional Radiologic Technologist (IR Tech)
Location: Surgical Center of Central Florida/LVI Outpatient Center
Reports To: Center Administrator
Type of Shift: PRN
JOB SUMMARY
The IR Technologist assists physicians in the tasks and responsibilities necessary in the performance of a variety of Interventional procedures that include, but are not limited to:
- Angiogram and Arteriogram
- Angioplasty, Atherectomy and Vascular Stenting
- Intravascular Ultrasound
- Vascular Access and Maintenance for Dialysis
- Uterine Fibroid Embolization
- Gonadal Vein Embolization
- Prostate artery embolization (PAE)
- Ureteral stenting
- IVC Filter placement and IVC Filter removal
- Vertebroplasty
- Kyphoplasty
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- The function of the IR Technologist includes providing excellent patient care pre, during, and post procedure independently with minimal supervision.
- Maintain and operate interventional vascular lab and recovery equipment.
- Use sterile techniques, set up and maintain the appropriate instruments and supply table for various procedures performed in the interventional lab.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies for the interventional lab operations, reordering as necessary and keeping accurate records of the supplies utilized.
- Have a working knowledge of current procedural (CPT) codes and ICD-10 diagnosis coding. Complete procedural charging sheets timely and accurately.
- Transport patients from preparation area to the interventional lab and return patients from the lab to the recovery area.
- Prepare and monitor patients during and after interventional lab procedures.
- Utilize EKG monitoring systems and have rhythm recognition skills appropriate for ACLS certification.
- Assist physicians with interventional procedures, including circulating, scrub assist, and performing contrast injections.
- Maintain a clean environment in the interventional lab, sub sterile, sterile, and recovery areas.
- Perform assigned quality controls daily, weekly, or monthly as required by policy and by area.
- Practice ALARA and proper disposal of biohazard as regulated by OSHA and the Florida Department of Health (AHCA).
- WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate’s Degree in a clinical or scientific field is preferred.
- Clinical registration or licensure as one of the following is required: RCVT, RRT, CCPT, or RCIS.
- Current ACLS certification is required.
- 3 or more years of cath or vascular lab experience a plus.
EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Associate degree in a clinical or scientific field
CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRIES:
Required: Registered by the ARRT and hold a current registry in Radiologic Technology (R) and hold a valid Florida state CRT license in Radiologic Technology. Current BLS (for healthcare providers) and ACLS certification
Preferred: Advanced Registry with ARRT in the discipline of Vascular Interventional (VI) or Cardiac Interventional (CI)
EXPERIENCE
Required: 2 years as a radiologic technologist with at least 1 year in interventional radiology, cardiology Cath lab, or an OR Fluoroscopy procedural area
Preferred: 3+ years of Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Cath lab experience
Job Title: Registered Nurse
Location: Surgical Center of Central Florida/LVI Outpatient Center
Division/Dept: Radiology and Imaging Specialists
Reports To: OBL/ASC Administrator
Type of Shift: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse assists physicians in the tasks and responsibilities necessary in the performance of cardiac
catheterization and peripheral angiography. The administration of the Registered Nurse includes providing
excellent patient care pre and post procedure independently with minimal supervision.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in maintaining and operating heart and vascular lab and recovery equipment.
2. Utilizing sterile technique assist in set up and maintain the appropriate instrument and supply table for various
procedures performed in the heart and vascular lab.
3. Maintain adequate inventory of medications and supplies for heart and vascular lab operations, reordering supplies
as necessary.
4. Transport patients from preparation area to heart and vascular lab.
5. Prepare the patient and monitor patient during and after heart and vascular lab procedures.
6. Utilize EKG and rhythm recognition skills.
7. Perform pre and post operative duties as required.
8. Assist physicians in heart and vascular procedures as requested.
9. Maintain and operate blood saturation equipment.
10. Administer appropriate medication and dosage per physician order in pre-procedure, during a heart and vascular
procedure, and in recovery.
11. Safely transport patients to recovery and monitor patients during transport.
12. Maintain a clean environment in the heart and vascular lab and recovery areas.
13. Maintain secure inventory of controlled substances and keep accurate records of all controlled substances.
14. Meet continuing education requirements in order to maintain license as required by State law.
15. Check code cart daily for all supplies, drugs, and check defibrillator for charge.
16. Perform appropriate quality control daily, weekly and monthly.
17. Assist physicians in preparing heart and vascular reports and enter data as required.
18. Proper disposal of biohazard and radioactive waste as regulated by OSHA and the Florida State Office of Radiation
Control.
19. Other related work as necessary.
20. Excellent patient care and customer service.
WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s Degree in nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Current Florida RN license is required.
Current ACLS certification is required.
3-5 years of ER or OR experience is required.
Experience in a Cath lab or ICU is a plus.
SKILLS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and patients, and the ability to
work independently.
This job requires prolonged sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching; Normal vision range
with the absence of color blindness, normal hearing, and normal eye to hand coordination and manual dexterity;
the ability to distinguish letters and symbols. This position may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
